Telangana Home Minister launches ‘Mega Vaccine Drive’ for underprivileged in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, June 15: Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Tuesday launched ‘Mega Vaccine Drive’, an initiative by Telangana State Police and organized by Hyderabad City Police and Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC) for the underprivileged at Sultan-Ul-Uloom-Education Society (SUES) here in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Mahmood Ali said that Hyderabad City Police has identified 5,000 poor people including garbage collectors, slum dwellers, and transgenders, who all are being provided free vaccination during the vaccine drive which is sponsored by Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL).

The Home Minister was accompanied by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)’ Khairtabad MLA Danam Nagendar and Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath and Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, IPS. Managing Director of MEIL PV Krishna Reddy, SUES Secretary Zafar Javeed, SUES Board Member Aamer Javeed and other dignitaries were also present.

Home Minister Mahmood Ali said that the Telangana Police Department has performed its public service and duties well during the Coronavirus epidemic. In addition, the police department is increasingly participating in programs to serve the poor and needy, he added.

He further said that not only Police officers but also doctors, nurses, and other Medical and Health department staff, and frontline workers have rendered selfless services and duties for the eradication of the virus.

The Home Minister commended the initiative by Telangana State Police and Hyderabad City Police. He also applauded HCSC, MEIL, Rainbow Hospitals, SUES, and Shreyas Media for their cooperation in organizing the drive and making the initiative happen.

Mahmood Ali said that the Telangana government under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is providing free vaccines to all in the state and added a massive vaccination drive is underway across the state.

The Minister said that the Telangana government has succeeded in effectively controlling the spread of the COVID pandemic in the first and second waves, adding that a number of steps have been taken to provide the best treatment to the poor and needy.

Further, the Home Minister also mentioned special congratulations to Hyderabad Collector Shwetha Mohanty, Telangana Director of Health G Srinivas Rao, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (West Zone)and other officers and staff for the successful conduct of the drive.
